Created in 1846 by Hobart's founder, George Earle, Lake George mirrors the many oak,elm and maple trees lining its banks. The lake serves as a year-round habitat for geese, ducks, swans and seagulls. Lake George provides Hobart with an attractive downtown waterfront where you can stroll, sail, fish, feed the ducks or simply sit and contemplate the beautiful lifestyle of our city.
Festival Park, with its winding walks along Lake George and a memorial bridge across the dam, is perhaps the most popular park in Hobart. Here, concerts at Revelli Bandshell are performed every week from spring until fall.
Festival Park and the lakefront are home to a variety of community events and
weddings
