Hobart offers excellent educational facilities for pre-schoolers through college. There are three public school systems within Hobart with the major portion of the city within the School City of Hobart boundary. Recent renovation has provided the latest high tech facilities in the high school and in a new modern elementary school.That same equipment is being installed in the middle school and the other three elementary schools in the Hobart system. The southern portion of the city is within the Merrillville School District, while a small area in the northern portion of the city is within the River Forest Community School District. A full range of sports and academic extra curricular activities are offered.
Kindergarten through 12th grade is offered in each system. The city also has three parochial schools including St. Bridget Catholic School and Trinity Lutheran School for students through eighth grades; and Calumet Baptist School through 12th grade. The Calumet Region Montessori School and the Northern Indiana Cerebral Palsy Center are also located in Hobart. Six pre-schools as well as preschool classes at St. Bridget, Trinity Lutheran, and Hobart Family YMCA are located in the city.
College of Court Reporting is located in Hobart. Other colleges and universities within a few miles include Indiana University Northwest, Purdue University Calumet, Calumet College, and Valparaiso University. Vocational training facilities are available at Indiana Vocational Technical College and through Hobart High School at the Gary Career Center.
